What is Sileu Sea?
Marine sponges have been a natural method used for thousands of years by women around the world for menstruation. The natural Sileu sea sponge provides the same level of absorption as a regular tampon, making the sponge a much more natural and eco-friendly method than traditional tampons.
Sileu Sea is suitable for women who suffer from vaginal dryness or allergies to other traditional menstrual products, as they are pleasant and gentle on the skin. They can be adapted to any size needed simply by trimming and shaping them to each woman’s requirements.
To achieve the highest level of safety and because they are marine sponges harvested directly from the Caribbean Sea, our menstrual sponges have been previously bleached to ensure they are aseptic, hypoallergenic, and do not contain any harmful organisms for health.
Sileu Sea is reusable, so you will save a lot of money on traditional menstrual products while avoiding plastic waste. Additionally, it is biodegradable, so when discarded, it can be composted with organic matter and processed safely.
Sileu Sea is eco-sustainable, as the harvesting process from the sea is done in a way that does not damage the root of the sponge, allowing it to continue producing new sponges in the future.

How to Use?
- Before the first use, it is recommended to wash it. To do this, place the sponge in a mixture of water and vinegar, in a ratio of 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar, for at least 6 hours. Then simply rinse it well with water and squeeze it thoroughly.
- To insert the sponge, moisten it well and squeeze out the excess water. Squeeze the sponge and gently insert it as if it were a tampon. Normally, the sponge should be changed and washed every 3-5 hours, depending on the flow level.
- To remove the sponge, simply push with the pelvic muscles to let it descend. The fuller it is, the easier it will be to extract. A small cotton thread can be sewn on if any difficulty is experienced when removing it, to pull it out.
- Once removed, rinse it well with clean water and repeat the step of soaking it in water with vinegar for a few hours. Then rinse it well again and squeeze out the excess water.
- Do not boil the menstrual sponge or use soaps, sterilizing tablets, or detergents. Being a natural product, it cannot be sterilized in the Sileu Clean sterilizer.
