Description

The Sileu Rose is the only cup in our range —and one of very few on the market— where, as well as size and colour, you choose how soft or firm its silicone is. Same shape, same measurements, same rose design: the only thing that changes between the Rose Sport, the Rose Standard and the Rose Soft is how it feels. And that detail, small as it sounds, is what decides whether you forget a cup is there or notice it all day.

Three flexibilities, one rose

Sileu was the first brand to create the concept of flexibility in menstrual cups. Until then, each model was made in a single firmness, and that is still how almost every brand does it. If that firmness does not suit you, your only option is to switch models… and with the model, the shape, the length and the capacity change too, so you start again from scratch. Not with the Rose: you keep the cup you already know and adjust only how it feels.

The three Sileu Rose cups, Sport, Standard and Soft, squeezed with the same force: each one gives way to a different degree
The three Rose cups squeezed with the same force. The Sport barely gives, the Standard half collapses and the Soft flattens almost completely.

Let us be honest: the difference between the three is not huge. You will not find one cup that is “hard as a rock” and another that feels “like a balloon”. It is a difference of nuance, but you do notice it, and you notice it most at two moments: when you insert it (how easily it opens) and when your body moves hard (how well it keeps its seal). That is why there is no “best” flexibility — only the one that fits the way you live.

  • Rose Sport — flexibility 2, the firmest. It springs back instantly and holds its seal even when your muscles tighten and relax again and again.
  • Rose Standard — flexibility 5, the middle ground. It pops open easily once inserted and is comfortable in almost any situation. It is the most popular choice.
  • Rose Soft — flexibility 9, the softest. A very gentle feel and minimal pressure on the vaginal walls and the bladder. It is the one you feel the least.

How each one feels in everyday life

Rose Sport: if your day never stands still

Picture a 7 a.m. spinning class: every pedal stroke tightens and relaxes your abdomen and pelvic floor. A firm silicone like the Rose Sport reacts to those changes straight away, springs back and does not lose its seal. The same goes for a 10 km run, a set of weighted squats at the gym, horse riding or an afternoon of jumps in dance class.

And you do not need to be an athlete. If your day involves carrying a 15 kg toddler, hauling the shopping up three flights of stairs with no lift or standing all day lifting boxes, your body is making sudden efforts too. Even a fit of laughter or a big sneeze raises the pressure in your abdomen for a second: the Sport handles those peaks best without shifting. It is also often preferred by women with a very toned pelvic floor (from Kegel exercises, pilates or hypopressive training, for example) who find that a softer cup “gives in” and moves. If your thing is yoga or pilates, we explain which cup works best on the mat in doing yoga with a menstrual cup.

The trade-off: being firmer, you notice it a little more at first. Most users stop feeling it after a few days.

Rose Standard: if your day is a bit of everything

An ordinary Tuesday: an early bus, eight hours at the office, errands in the afternoon, a gentle yoga class and dinner with friends. Nothing extreme, but you are not sitting still either. For that kind of day the Rose Standard is the balance: firm enough not to move when you rush up the stairs or run for the train, and flexible enough that you do not feel it sitting at your computer.

It is also the one we recommend for a first cup (see how to choose your first menstrual cup). Its silicone has just the right firmness so that, when you fold it and let go inside, it opens on its own without needing to be twisted or repositioned. If you are travelling —a flight with a stopover, a whole day of sightseeing on foot— it is the option that will make you think about it least; here is our travel kit with a menstrual cup. And if you cannot decide, choose this one: it is our best seller for a reason.

Rose Soft: if what you want is not to feel it

Some days everything bothers you. The first painful days of your period, when any pressure on your lower abdomen is unwelcome. A long day sitting down —a four-hour exam, a day working from home, a six-hour drive— with the cup resting in the same position the whole time. For those situations, the soft silicone of the Rose Soft adapts to your body instead of asking your body to adapt to it.

It tends to be the favourite of women who feel bladder pressure with firmer cups, of those whose periods return after giving birth while their pelvic floor is still recovering, and of anyone who simply values the softest feel above all else. It is also very comfortable for sleeping: we explain how many hours you can wear it in sleeping with a menstrual cup.

The trade-off, said plainly: because it is so flexible, it reacts a little more slowly to sudden movements and can take slightly more effort to open fully when inserted (a small twist with your fingers is usually enough). If your plan is a sprint or a high-intensity class, the Sport will give you more peace of mind.

Which one is yours?

If your day looks like… We recommend
Frequent or intense sport, physical effort, a very toned pelvic floor Rose Sport
A varied routine, first cup, travel, not sure which to choose Rose Standard
Long hours sitting down, painful days, postpartum, sensitivity or bladder pressure Rose Soft

And if your life mixes everything —an office week and a mountain weekend— some users own two: the Standard for everyday and the Sport for sporty days.

A shape designed so the cup stops being “weird”

The Rose was born from a simple idea: the menstrual cup had a reputation as a strange object, hard to explain and awkward to carry in your bag. So we designed it in Spain in the shape of a rose, with raised petals and a velvety feel, to make it a beautiful object you have no need to hide. We tell you how it came about in the story behind the Sileu Rose design.

The petals are not just for looks: their relief gives your fingers grip when you fold it and when you remove it. The stem is a 14 mm hollow tube, short and soft, which you can trim to your liking or remove altogether. And just below the rim are the air holes that help create the seal and release it when you take the cup out.

Measurements

Measurements of the Sileu Rose menstrual cup in sizes S and L
The Rose in size L and size S.
Measurement Size S Size L
Capacity up to the air holes 24 ml 30 ml
Capacity up to the rim 30 ml 34 ml
Total length 61 mm 69 mm
Body length (without stem) 47 mm 55 mm
Stem length 14 mm 14 mm
Diameter 45 mm 48 mm

Compared with our other models, the Rose is shorter (61–69 mm overall) and wider at the rim (45–48 mm). That combination gives it good capacity without taking up as much length, which is welcome if your cervix sits at mid height. It also comes in size XS, designed for teenagers, a very low cervix or very light periods.

Sizes and colours

Size XS: teenagers, a very low cervix or very light flow. Size S: if you have not had a vaginal birth. Size L: if you have had a vaginal birth. You will find the full guide in menstrual cup sizes: how to get it right first time.

Available in red, with an organic colourant also certified to ISO 10993, and in clear, with no pigment at all.

Material and safety

German medical and surgical-grade silicone from the Wacker brand, certified to ISO 10993. It does not shed fibres, does not dry you out and does not alter your pH. You can wear it for up to 12 hours in a row, including overnight, and it is compatible with an IUD and the contraceptive ring.

What you receive

The cup in the size, flexibility and colour you choose, sealed in a biodegradable PLA bag; a GOTS-certified organic cotton pouch to store it; an illustrated instruction manual in seven languages; and its box.

Care

Rinse it with water each time you empty it and sterilise it at the end of your cycle, in a pan of boiling water or in our foldable steriliser. We explain every method in how to sterilise a menstrual cup: microwave, pot or tablets. With proper care, a Rose lasts for years (these are the signs that it is time to replace it).
